Assignment 2: Planned and Drafted Documents

Your assignment consists of two documents that you plan and write.

Choose two documents from your job that you are planning to write. One of the two documents should be an e-mail message that answers a question or responds to a request from someone; the other can be an e-mail message or a short document that you initiate.

The document that you plan and draft to answer a question or respond to a request will be a responsive e-mail message; the document that you initiate will be an initiative document. The initiative document can be either an e-mail or short document such as a one- or two-page report.

For each document, you should do the following:

  • Use the Responsive Dialogue Worksheet to plan the responsive e-mail message, and use the Initiative Dialogue Worksheet to plan the initiative document. On each dialogue worksheet, under the heading ‘Reader’s Next Questions,’ please include two (or more) reader questions.
  • Then write the e-mails or short document based on your plan in each dialogue worksheet.

Note: Note: Your e-mail or short document should be at least three paragraphs long.

When you have completed the worksheets and written the documents, upload the following two Word files to the Assignment 2 section in Moodle:

• File 1: Completed Responsive Dialogue Worksheet and your written responsive e-mail

• File 2: Completed Initiative Dialogue Worksheet and your written initiative e-mail or short document

Your tutor will provide feedback on the overall effectiveness of your planning worksheets and your documents. You may be asked to revise and resubmit any part of the assignment based on this feedback.
